As well as uncovering the many sides of the Nobel Prize winner who was a poet. playwright, children's writer, critic and publisher, the film examines his extraordinary body of work and assesses its continuing relevance today. In a television first, his widow Valerie, with whom he spent the last years of his life, opens her personal archive, which includes the private scrapbooks and albums in which he documented their life together.
